Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp praised the contribution of match-winner Luka Modric following their 1-0 victory over Chelsea.
The Croatian struck the crucial goal in the 50th minute to ease Spurs into the top half of the Premier League table for the first time this season.
Redknapp purred: "It was a great finish from a great little player. He's a top, top player - one of the best in the world in my opinion.
"He's got so much ability. He's got a big heart as well and is a terrific footballer."
Redknapp felt his side thoroughly deserved to win this London derby against a Chelsea team whose title chances were dealt a crushing blow even with Manchester United losing at Fulham.
But he admitted the home side were indebted to a great save from much-maligned keeper Heurelho Gomes.
The Brazilian, starting in preference to former Chelsea keeper Carlo Cudicini, pulled off a flying stop late on to keep out Blues skipper John Terry's header.
"It looked in all the way," said the Spurs boss. "I was behind it all the way and thought it was a goal but the keeper has pulled out an amazing save and he is playing very well."
After outplaying their London rivals, Redknapp also feels Tottenham can now start pushing for a European place rather than worrying about relegation.
A fine run of form has seen them move eight points clear of the drop zone prompting Redknapp to admit: "If we get relegated from where we are now we want locking up.
"We are playing very well and probably need to win one more game to be sure (of staying up). We have got to keep it going now as we want to see how high we can finish."
