Tottenham keeper Heurelho Gomes' fine end of season form has earned him a recall to the Brazil squad for the Confederations cup.
The 28-year-old's future at White Hart Lane was in doubt mid way through the season after some costly errors left Spurs in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
However, a fine recovery from both Gomes and the team has given the keeper another chance at international level and left Spurs fighting for a place in Europe on the final day of the league this Sunday.
An injury to Roma's Doni, currently Brazil's first choice keeper, has paved the way for Gomes to make his mark and show Brazil boss Dunga what he is made of.
"I feel for Doni and hope he recovers quickly," said Gomes. "But I'm not sure this was the reason I was called up. I'm in a great phase and when you've been playing well, you always hope for a call-up."
Tottenham travel to Anfield in search of a win against Liverpool and must hope Everton can defeat Fulham elsewhere in order to snatch a place in next season's Europa League.
"We can win at Liverpool, we have confidence for this game and we will give everything we have for one last time this season.
"Teams like Liverpool will always play well, but they do give you space to play, so we can definitely score.
"We will look to improve on our away form next season, because if we picked up more points on the road, we would be fighting even higher up the table," he added.
