Diao and Wilkinson happy to commit futures to Stoke

Salif Diao has signed a new contract at Stoke City, while Andy Wilkinson has agreed an extension to his deal at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke had been locked in talks over a fresh deal for Diao, with the Senegal midfielder also receiving offers from clubs in France and Italy. However, Diao insists staying with the Potters was always his first choice and he has now secured a new one-year deal. "I'm really happy to sign the contract," Diao told the club's official website. "I've always wanted to stay here and the club always wanted me to stay here too. "There's a very difficult season ahead of us now and it's good for everything to be sorted out now."

Buzzing

Meanwhile, promising full-back Wilkinson has inked a one-year extension to his contract which ties him to the Premier League club until 2012. Wilkinson said: "I'm delighted that I've signed the extension to my contract. "It was a dream come true to play for the club that I supported as a kid and now to sign a new deal for another season going into the Premier League is another dream. "I still have to pinch myself at times to see if it's all real, but I'm buzzing and can't wait for the new season."
