Bolton defender Sam Ricketts is hoping Saturday's victory over Wolves marked the start of their climb away from the Premier League drop zone.
A first-half goal from Zat Knight secured Wanderers the 1-0 win, which lifted them away from the relegation place they had been occupying.
The victory ended a run of five league games without a win or goal and Ricketts is now looking towards a period of clashes with the teams around them in the table.
"Wolves was the start of a massive run of games for us and so it was important we got off to that with a victory," Ricketts told the club's official website.
"We kept a clean sheet and obviously it was a nice finish from Zat for our goal. We should have had a few more as we created a number of good opportunities."
Despite their recent goal-drought, the Wales international insists manager Owen Coyle has instilled a sense of belief in his players.
"Confidence is good and has always been good. The manager has made sure of that, but three points gives us all that little extra lift," said the 28-year-old.
"We are working hard for each other. Now we have to focus on trying to get a run together and keep moving up the table."
