Spurs shot-stopper pleased to be back in action

Carlo Cudicini admits returning to action for Tottenham eight months after suffering serious injuries in a motorcycle crash was an emotional experience. The goalkeeper's superbike collided with a car while he was riding to Spurs' training ground last November, and he consequently fractured both wrists and his pelvis. The 36-year-old was ruled out for the rest of the season but made his much-anticipated return during the pre-season friendly win at Bournemouth earlier this month. "I feel fine," Cudicini told Tottenham's official website. "Of course, after eight months out, there was a bit of emotion at going back to the pitch, but it was a nice feeling to be back and having the chance to get minutes on the pitch. That's what the pre-season's all about." Cudicini worked on his recovery during the early part of the summer with coach Tony Parks at Spurs Lodge. "We split the rehabilitation into two parts," he added. "The first was in the summer and Parksy did a great job with the physio team and the doctor and now it's the second part, hard training and going into matches. "At the moment, fingers crossed, everything is going well." Cudicini will once again battle with Heurelho Gomes for the number one shirt at White Hart Lane this season, while further competition for the gloves could come from Croatia keeper Stipe Pletikosa if manager Harry Redknapp can secure his signature.
