Odemwingie reveals goal aid

Baggies front man glad to be back amongst the goals

Peter Odemwingie admitted he received help from a psychologist in the lead up to the win over Blackpool. The West Bromwich Albion striker clearly benefited from the advice as he bagged two goals - including the matchwinner - in Saturday's 3-2 triumph over the Seasiders at The Hawthorns. Odemwingie had not scored since netting a double against Newcastle in early December and, ironically, the Baggies had lost every game since the Nigerian front-man began his goal drought. But after extending his tally to eight for the campaign, Odemwingie was keen to thank the personnel who helped him behind the scenes this week.

Confidence

He told Sky Sports: "Lots of people got behind me - they saw that I was a little bit down. "I think it's how the whole team feels but I because I'm someone who needs to score they had to make me relax and get back my confidence and it's really helped me today." Saturday's win lifted West Brom further away from the relegation zone and the club are now four points better off than 18th placed Wolverhampton Wanderers. And Odemwingie has called for his team-mates to replicate the Blackpool win in upcoming fixtures that see the likes of Wigan, West Ham and Wolves all visit The Hawthorns. The Nigeria international added: "From my celebration you can see how important every point is. "I think it's going to be tough with lots of games we'll have to fight for points that are coming and we need to play like we did today then we'll get our points."
