Holman, El Ahmadi and Lowton heading to the USA

New signings Brett Holman, Karim El Ahmadi and Matthew Lowton have been named in Aston Villa's squad for a pre-season tour of the United States. Paul Lambert's side fly out to Philadelphia on Monday as they look to step up their preparations for the 2012/13 campaign. Their time in the USA will see them take in three fixtures against MLS outfits - Philadelphia Union, Chicago Fire and Portland Timbers. Those drafted into the Villa squad this summer will use the tour as an opportunity to find their feet in new surroundings and catch the eye of Lambert. Alan Hutton is among those who will not make the trip, with the Scottish full-back left out of the 25-man travelling party.

Missing

Jean Makoun is also missing, with the Cameroon midfielder seemingly set for a summer departure. Fabian Delph is included, though, despite reports suggesting that he could be among those moved out of Villa Park. Goalkeeper Shay Given and defender Richard Dunne are involved following their appearances at Euro 2012 with the Republic of Ireland, while young Irish duo Enda Stevens and Samir Carruthers will be looking to prove that they are worthy of regular involvement in the senior ranks.
