QPR manager laments performance against Swansea City
Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has admitted that his side were "exceptionally poor" against Swansea City on Saturday.
QPR went down 5-0 at Loftus Road in their first game of the new Premier League season, as Michu and Nathan Dyer scored twice each and Scott Sinclair added the fifth.
Hughes was disappointed with his players' inability to chase the game after they were 1-0 and then 2-0 down, and has urged them to recover from this setback quickly.
Bad chase
"We were exceptionally poor today," he told Sky Sports. "The only positive was the start when we were comfortable (after Swansea scored their opening goal on eight minutes).
"In the end we were chasing them and they were better at keeping the ball and making the right passes.
"This is a wake-up call because some were getting excited by what we have ahead of us. We need to perform better than we did today.
"We were very much in the game when we were 1-0 and 2-0 down. But in the end we couldn't (overhaul Swansea's advantage) as we made poor decisions, and were picked apart in the end.
"We are desperately disappointed. We needed to have chased the game better."
