The 28-year-old Spain international is the only player to start all 11 games for Chelsea so far this season and is the club's top scorer with five goals.
With Daniel Sturridge currently injured, Torres is set to be in the line-up once again against Norwich on Saturday.
The European champions are competing on a number of fronts this season and Di Matteo is aware that he may have to rotate his squad soon.
Asked if the possibility of Torres suffering from burnout was a concern, he said on Friday: "It's our seventh game tomorrow in 21 days and he's in good shape, he's very fit.
"But, certainly, it's something we have to look at."
Chelsea have a rare two-week break before their next fixture after the game against the Canaries but the former Liverpool man is expected to feature for Spain in their World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and France.
