The Canaries' win over Everton last Saturday was their first in the Premier League since 19 December, encapsulating their second campaign back in England's top flight since winning promotion from the Championship.
Rising as high as seventh just before Christmas, Norwich have also conceded five goals on three separate occasions and were looking anxiously over their shoulders at the relegation zone before the victory over Everton.
It is such inconsistency that Hughton is looking to address with a view of becoming an established Premier League outfit.
"The teams that can be consistent are the teams that are used to this division, have the quality and are regular members of the division," Hughton observed.
"We are still striving to be that and along the road come the inconsistencies.
"However, in the end, there is only one thing that matters and that is we have enough points to still be in this division."
One source of goals for the rest of this season could be Kei Kamara, as the Sierra Leone forward notched his first goal since arriving on loan from Kansas City in the win over Everton.
Hughton, however, is wary over making early predictions on the 28-year-old's impact, adding: "He will help us. How much of a difference will he make? The judgement time will come after a few games."
