The Spanish giants have bid £85m and Jamie Redknapp - who was a guest on Tuesday night's Football Season Preview show on Sky Sports - believes the new Madrid offer makes sense for Tottenham and the player.
"Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world how can he turn it down?" said Redknapp. "I also believe Tottenham are a selling club, their history would suggest that. You go back to Michael Carrick, Modric Berbatov they do tend to sell.
"They always sell at the right price and I think there will be a conversation between Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis and I can only see one outcome - and that is he will be a Real Madrid player."
Gaizka Mendietta, who played for Valencia for eight years until 2001, believes that Spurs failure to secure Champions League football this season could be pivotal.
"It would have been different if Spurs had stayed in the Champions League, then you would have built a team around Bale to be competitive, to challenge for the Premier League as well," he said.
"But at this moment, with that amount of money they can build a team for this season, for next season and for the future. Also, you don't want to keep a player that does not want to be there. It has an effect on the rest of the dressing room."
Fellow panelist Graeme Souness suggested the draw of playing for the nine-time European champions would too tempting.
He added: "There is only five or six clubs that he could go to that would improve his status and situation; possibly Juventus in Italy, obviously the big two in Spain, maybe Manchester United.
"Tottenham have a very healthy group challenging for the Champions League, but Real Madrid are such a lure, any player would find it hard to resist."
