Arsenal and Manchester United left it late to complete two of the biggest deals of the transfer window as the Premier League's 20 clubs spent over £600million.

Everton also sold Victor Anichebe to West Brom in a deal which could rise to £6million and the striker was one of four new arrivals at The Hawthorns. Anichebe's signing came on the back of West Brom announcing a club record deal for Stephane Sessegnon of Sunderland, while Morgan Amalfitano joined on loan from Marseille and goalkeeper Lee Camp signed a short-term deal. Baggies head coach Steve Clarke said of Amalfitano: "He is predominantly a right-sided midfielder who can also operate in a number of other midfield and attacking positions. Morgan is a technical player with good quality on the ball. He also has fantastic work-rate and we believe his game is well suited to the Barclays Premier League." Sunderland, in addition to selling Sessegnon, completed a double Italian deal after signing striker Fabio Borini on loan from Liverpool and bringing in left-sided player Andrea Dossena from Napoli. Palace rounded off their summer transfer window with four more signings to take their tally to 15 since winning promotion from the Championship. Right-back Jack Huntcompleted his move from Huddersfield, Reading defender Adrian Mariappasecured a return to the Premier League, Cameron Jerome was a last-gasp loan addition from Stoke and midfielder Barry Bannan clinched a reunion with Ian Holloway after moving from Aston Villa. Bannan told Sky Sports: "I played a lot of games last season but the gaffer at Villa has obviously decided to go another way. You can't complain - some managers like you, some don't." Swansea City took their summer recruitment drive into double figures by signing Getafe striker Alvaro Vazquez on a season-long loan. "Vasquez is a young player I know from his time at Espanyol and now Getafe," said Swansea boss Michael Laudrup. "He is a little different to the strikers we have and has the characteristics we have been looking for. He will give us a different option." Aston Villa had done the bulk of their business early in the transfer window, but squeezed in a seventh signing before the deadline as Czech Republic striker Libor Kozak joined on a four-year contract from Lazio. Villa boss Paul Lambert said: "We've been on this one for the last few months, trying to bring him to the club, so I'm delighted to get it across the line. Libor has an unbelievable scoring record in the Europa League, incredible really." Stoke City completed a double deal by signing striker Marko Arnautovic on a four-year contract from Werder Bremen and midfielder Stephen Ireland on a season-long loan from Aston Villa. Of Ireland, chief executive Tony Scholes said: "Arguably the most successful period of Stephen's career to date was when he played for Mark at Manchester City and we hope that he can rediscover that form." Hull City were unable to finalise the club record signing of West Brom striker Shane Long, but did bring Gedo back on a season-long loan, while Fulham brought in Montenegro international right-back Elsad Zverotic. Peter Odemwingie was one of the stories of the last transfer window and this time he appeared to secure a move after confirming he is joining Cardiff City from West Brom. Championship promotion favourites Queens Park Rangers strengthened their squad further by signing Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Tom Carroll on loan from Tottenham, in addition to Harry Redknapp signing Niko Kranjcar for a third time. Wigan Athletic also brought in a couple of players from the Premier League, landing midfielder Nick Powell on loan from Manchester United and defender Ryan Shotton from Stoke. Middlesbrough landed a couple of permanent deals just before the deadline as Sierra Leone striker Kei Kamara joined from Sporting Kansas and midfielder Jacob Butterfield arrived from Middlesbrough.
