Norwich have failed with a deadline-day bid for Everton's Steven Naismith, according to Sky sources.
The Scotland international is staying at Goodison Park despite a City offer believed to be worth in the region of £7-8m.
Sunderland are also understood to have expressed an interest, but Naismith was never close to leaving the club.
The 28-year-old has been with Everton since 2012 but is yet to start a Premier League game this season.
