Jamie Redknapp discusses Deadline Day's biggest talking points

Redknapp

As David Luiz makes a sensational return to Chelsea, Jamie Redknapp discusses Deadline Day's talking points.

The Sky Sports pundit also reveals the Premier League club which has done the best business this summer, and picks the stand-out signing of the window.

But first, Redknapp gives his thoughts on the Deadline Day dealings…

Jack Wilshere - Arsenal to Bournemouth

Jamie says: "Bournemouth will be great for him, my former club, to go and work with Eddie Howe and get his career going again.

"He's completed 90 minutes once since 2014/15 and that isn't good enough, so he has to go and enjoy football and put himself under pressure again.

"If this move has been instigated from him, then fair play. He got in a comfort zone, playing cameo roles at Arsenal, but he's better than that, and has to get his career going again.

"If you're Bournemouth, Wilshere is a game-changer. When on form, there's not many who can do what he can do when he strides from midfield, but he has to get his confidence back.

"He's exactly what they need, it's not been the start they wanted, but he'd add so much to their midfield."

David Luiz - PSG to Chelsea

Jamie says: "This is sensational, the deal you wouldn't have expected. It suggests to me that Conte is looking to get another centre-back in so he has the luxury of playing three at the back sometimes. It was a system he played with Italy and some clubs in his career.

"Obviously they have Kurt Zouma to come back in, they have John Terry and Gary Cahill.

"Is David Luiz talented? Absolutely. Yes, he makes bad decisions and is a bit rash at times, but when he's on his game, he's fantastic. You could even play him in midfield as well."

Joe Hart - Manchester City to Torino, season-long loan

Jamie says: "I was a bit surprised he went to Italy. He's a very talented goalkeeper, despite the criticism. He can offer a lot still and I am surprised he didn't stay in the Premier League.

"I respect him for trying a different league. I think it will be great for him, to go out there and learn another language."

Wilfried Bony - Manchester City to Stoke City, season-long loan

Jamie says: "Stoke need some personnel as it's not been the start of the season that they have wanted. They're an established Premier League club now and they have to make sure they stay there.

"You look at other teams strengthening, and Stoke certainly needed one or two players, particularly a focal point up front.

"If Bony can get back to his Swansea form, he will be a very good player for them, but it might take a while as he hasn't been playing.

"He needs to get that edge back in his game, and that will take time."

Which Premier League club has had the best window?

Jamie says: "In terms of business, Manchester United. They made a statement very early in the window, they didn't mess around. Jose Mourinho brought in the players he wanted.

"You can see they suddenly look like the Manchester United of old again, with that fear factor back.

"I would have to say Paul Pogba has been the best signing. He's more than a footballer, he even transcends Manchester United to a certain extent.

"Everyone talks about the haircuts, the kits, but kids absolutely adore him. I think he will be a star for the league.

"It's all well and good having the best mangers, but we need the best players here as well in this country."
