Saturday swoops

With this weekend's Super Sunday fixtures in mind, it'll take a shrewd FF Manager to avoid multiple player clashes.

Take a cautious approach to Super Sunday, with bags of points to be won on Saturday

With this weekend's Super Sunday fixtures in mind, it'll take a shrewd Sky Fantasy Football Manager to pull through the gameweek without getting duped by one of their own players. Manchester United host Liverpool and Manchester City travel to Arsenal, meaning 10 from 11 of last weekend's Team of the Week will face each other. Star players will take points off each other, so failing to prepare is preparing to fail. Robin van Persie (£10m) has scored four goals in his last four games against Liverpool, stretching back into his Arsenal days - keep or make him captain, but if you can't afford the United goal machine, Carlos Tevez (£9.4m) is due a goal for City. Sky Bet go odds-on that both teams will score in each Super Sunday match. Therefore, perhaps the likes of Joe Hart (£6m) and Pepe Reina (£5.4m), two of the most-picked goalkeepers in the game, could sit this week out. Chelsea face a difficult trip to Stoke - the only side unbeaten at home in the league - so avoid selecting Petr Cech as a replacement, with Everton's Tim Howard a much better choice at £5.3m, half a million cheaper than the Blues stopper.

Toffee targets

The Toffees face Swansea on Saturday, and expect Michael Laudrup's men to be a little jaded amid their second away trip of the week following their Capital One Cup heroics at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday - Sky Bet offer 7/4 on Everton to win to nil, a tasty bet in prospect. And there's no need to stop there with David Moyes' men - Phil Jagielka (£5.9m) and Leighton Baines are the two most picked defenders, get at least one of them in (if you haven't already) to avoid losing ground on your rivals, although in-form Baines will set you back a hefty £7.1m. In anticipation of the Super Sunday foursome cancelling each other out, other teams to target include Tottenham, Chelsea and perhaps Norwich if you're fishing for a bargain buy. Spurs are odds-on to bring QPR back down to earth following their win at Stamford Bridge last time out, with former White Hart Lane boss Harry Redknapp facing an almighty task in preventing his old club from a fourth successive league win. Tottenham have scored 12 goals in their last four games, and Sky Bet go as short at 5/2 that they hit at least three goals at Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon, with Jermain Defoe (£7.8m) and Gareth Bale (£8.8m) the obvious transfer targets ahead of this one. If you can't afford or already have them in your ranks, Aaron Lennon is Tottenham's top assist maker with five, and he's available for a modest £6m. Although Chelsea are up against it at Stoke and will do well to keep a clean sheet, their midfield should see most of the possession and with that will come goalscoring opportunities. Fernando Torres looked sluggish again against Swansea in midweek, which may encourage Rafa Benitez to hand Demba Ba his first Premier League start for the club, and the Senegal striker is £0.5m cheaper than his Spanish team-mate.
Blues benefits
The Britannia was never a good hunting ground for Benitez in his Liverpool days, but the Blues can boss the midfield through the likes of Juan Mata (£8.9m) and Eden Hazard (£7.7m), Chelsea's joint-top assist makers with eight each. Oscar is a cheaper alternative at £5.8m, but the young Brazilian is less likely to get on the score-sheet than the aforementioned duo, and with Chelsea still to play Southampton on Wednesday your points tally is certain to benefit from a dose of the Blues. As for Norwich, they're on the slide having lost four Premier League games on the bounce, but in Newcastle they face one of only two sides in the division yet to win on the road, Reading being the other. The Magpies have conceded 25 goals in 10 away games, and the Canaries will sense blood as they bid to recreate the sort of form they showed during their impressive unbeaten run earlier in the campaign. Robert Snodgrass is proving he can cut it at the highest level - he's only £6.3m and has already racked up 93 points courtesy of four goals and three assists this season. If you're short at the back, Sebastien Bassong is cheap cover at £3.9m, although the Cameroon international appears to have already used up his goalscoring prowess for the season. Don't forget the African Cup of Nations starts on January 19th, with the large majority of Premier League players involved having already set off for South Africa. This includes the likes of John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses, Kolo Toure, Yaya Toure and more.
