The Sunday Supplement panel discuss who they think should make the team of the year.

The Sunday Supplement team have picked their team of the season for 2017/18 and unsurprisingly, Manchester City players dominate their combined XI.

After much deliberation, Oliver Holt (Daily Mail), Oliver Kay (The Times) and Neil Custis (The Sun) arrived at their final selection, with Ederson, Eric Bailly, Ashley Young, Christian Eriksen and Sergio Aguero all coming close to final selection.

But in an attacking 433 formation, the trio picked six players from Pep Guardiola's side, with the remaining spots taken by two players from Tottenham, two from Liverpool and one from Manchester United.

Here's how their best XI of the season looks:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea (Manchester United)
Custis: "He's the greatest goalkeeper I've ever seen. The saves he makes are incredible. The way he commands the box, his distribution, his saves are worth points and trophies."

Right back: Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
Holt: "I was sceptical when I heard City were paying £53m for him, but he has been absolutely outstanding, he has risen to the challenge. He has kicked on from Tottenham."

LIVERPOOL, SEP 09, 2017: Jan Vertonghen of Tottenham Hotspur during the Premier League match between Everton and Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park.

Centre-backs: John Stones (Manchester City), Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham)
Holt: "I like the way John Stones plays the game. He's not the finished article. He's not in the team at the moment but he's my idea of a modern defender."

Left back: Andy Robertson (Liverpool)
Holt: "I know he's not played the whole season. He's come back into the team with style and he's a terrific attacking player."

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - FEBRUARY 10: Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City retrieves the ball during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Leice

Midfield three: Kevin de Bruyne, Fernandinho, David Silva (all Manchester City)
Kay: "That midfield three have been on another level to anyone else this season."
Custis: "De Bruyne - the passes he picks out, he finds an option you haven't seen and certainly defences haven't seen. He's the player of the year."

Front three: Leroy Sane (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Kay: "Enough has been written and said about Kane and Salah, but Sane has been one of the most brilliant pieces of business. He arrived as a young player but has been sensational this season."

Pep Guardiola
