UNITED TO DECIDE ON YOUNG TRIALIST

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to decide on whether they are to pursue their interest in York City youngster Chris Hogg, as the defender comes to the end of a six week trial at Old Trafford.

The 15-year-old has impressed with his performances for the Under-16 side at York, which he captains, and through his games at international level for the England Under-15 team.

Now Hogg is entering the final week of his trial at the Premiership champions, and is likely to have to wait until at least next week before hearing if Sir Alex Ferguson's side are to make a formal approach towards signing him.

United have enjoyed a good working relationship over the years with regards to the exchange of youth players, having taken young striker Jonathan Greening (pictured) from the club in 1998 and 22-year-old goalkeeper Nick Culkin in 1995.

Hogg will be hoping that he has impressed sufficiently to earn himself a move to the Manchester giants, where he will become part of one of the finest youth systems in the country.

Meanwhile, it is understood that United are set to announce plans for a tour of Asia next summer, where the club have a massive following. It is believed that chief executive Peter Kenyon will announce the plans for the tour, which is expected to include games in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, at a press conference in Singapore on Thursday.
