Ince has a fine reputation in Italy after two years with Internazionale - and indeed the Milan club's president Massimo Moratti suggested last year that the door was always open for the tigerish midfielder.
The 33-year-old, along with Manchester United's transfer-listed South African Quinton Fortune, are reported by the Daily Mail to be heading up Brescia's wanted list.
It remains to be seen what role Ince will play under McClaren - who is rumoured to be moving closer to the signings of youngsters Mark Wilson and Jonathan Greening from Manchester United - however the possibility of a return to Italy can certainly not be ignored.
Brescia have had one of their most successful seasons in the top flight - with the mercurial ability of the legendary Roberto Baggio playing a key part in the side finishing in eighth position in Serie A.
Baggio did spend the two years of Ince's Italian adventure in close proximity to the ex-Manchester United man, with the 'divine ponytail' playing across the city for Milan at the time.
