Sven Goran Eriksson has opted for Sheringham as a replacement for Liverpool's injured striker Michael Owen for the game at Old Trafford on Saturday that could book England's place in Japan and South Korea next summer.
Sinclair's inclusion is more of surprise but he has impressed this season for The Hammers despite their bad start to the campaign.
Nicky Butt and David Seaman will both undergo medical tests on Monday on their injuries that could rule them out of the game. Seaman's shoulder injury forced him out of the game at Derby on Saturday, while Butt has been left out of the squad after sustaining a rib injury during United's game at Spurs, but will be drafted back in if he recovers in time for the match.
Martin Keown and Ugo Ehiogu have also been included in the 23-man squad as extra defensive cover following the loss of Wes Brown.
Danny Murphy retains his place in the squad but Frank Lampard has been dropped, with Michael Carrick and Owen Hargeaves being included in the Under-21 side.
Hargreaves and Ipswich's Titus Bramble have, however, confirmed their unavailability for the Under-21 encounter with their Greek counterparts.
