Agent Rachel Anderson is trying to negotiate a move to The Premiership for the World Cup winner, and Ferguson has confirmed he is in the market for a new shot-stopper with Fabien Barthez injured, and Raimond van der Gouw off-loaded to West Ham.
Roy Carroll is an able deputy, but United are still scouring the globe for another goalie who can put pressure on Barthez.
"I only speak about this when the offer is on the table of president Mustafa Contursi," said Marcos, when asked about the reports of the interest from Old Trafford.
"I never dreamed of playing in Europe because this is difficult to happen for goalkeepers.
"I do not only think about the financial side.
"I have to see what is good for me and my family.
"I'm a little scared about adapting to a new country," he admitted.
"I have been here many years. I am not accustomed to moving clubs."
Marcos played against United in the 1999 Inter-Continental Cup in Tokyo, when The Red Devils triumphed courtesy of a goal from Roy Keane.
"If this offer is true," he added. "I must say that I failed to already think about going to Manchester some day."
With the August 31 deadline looming, the 28-year-old is hoping that a move to England is forthcoming.
