The 22-year-old made his first team debut in 1998 and looked set for a bright future with Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
However, injuries and lack of form have since hampered his chances of regular first team action.
"I need to make an impression this season because I am 22 now and need first-team action," he said.
"If I don't make an impact I will have to look elsewhere."
Chadwick even admitted that he would be prepared to leave the club for a loan spell, something he did earlier in his career when he was farmed out to United's feeder club Antwerp.
"If a loan deal came along that would be fine," he said.
"It would be good to get a regular game of football.
"As you get older, you can't wait forever for your chance. You want to get amongst it and be part of the squad.
"There are so many great players here you know you cannot walk into the team but if I don't make an impact this season I would have to consider leaving."
