The teenage winger has thrust his way into The Red Devils' first team squad this season and made his debut in the Champions League against Olympiakos.
He was handed his first start against Maccabi Haifa last week and was introduced to devastating effect against Leicester in the Worthington Cup on Tuesday.
Richardson poached a last minute header in the 2-0 success and could put Ryan Giggs under pressure on the left flank.
Red Devils chief Ferguson admits Richardson is not short on confidence and praised the 18-year-old's contribution against The Foxes.
"Kieran has got a good temperament," said Ferguson. "He is cocky and a confident wee lad.
"He is going to be a good player. He is a brave lad with a big heart and he showed that when scoring his goal.
"He was prepared to put his head in where the boots and bodies were flying."
