The respected Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Old Trafford outfit are ready to splash out a massive é¼60 million on the French forward, which does appear rather unlikely given the current financial climate in the game, as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to strengthen his attacking options.
Trezeguet is currently sidelined through a knee injury, and has previously attracted strong attention from Arsenal.
The 24-year-old is on the list of 50 contenders for this year's Ballon d'Or, but had a disappointing World Cup, and has always been keen to pledge his future to Juve despite the speculation suggesting he could be bound for The Premiership.
Ferguson has admitted it will be difficult to find a top-class striker who has not appeared in the Champions League, and the former Monaco man has played a couple of times in the competition this term.
Meanwhile, the same newspaper suggests United left back Mikael Silvestre is a target for Milan.
The French international has still to sign a new deal, and his present contract expires at the end of the season, and Carlo Ancelotti is known to be pondering his defensive options.
Ex-Red Devils stopper Jaap Stam is also being considered by Ancelotti, and there is sure to be plenty of transfer talk in the build up to the window re-opening.
