ALBION ROVERS manager Peter Hetherston has revealed that no formal bid has been made for highly-rated keeper Scott Shearer.
The 21-year-old, who has recently undertaken trials with Celtic and Everton, is currently under the microscope of Manchester United, but as yet no offer has been submitted.
The Red Devils recently sent scout Martin Ferguson to watch the youngster in action against Elgin City, a trip in which Sir Alex Ferguson's brother spoke to the shot-stopper.
"There have been no concrete offers," revealed Hetherston. "I know he spoke to Martin whilst he was here, but that's all.
"I think it's great for the players that scouts from clubs are coming to our games. Especially from Manchester United.
"It's our job to make sure the lad keeps his feet on the ground."
Should the youngster make to the step up to a higher level of football, either to the English Premiership or the Scottish Premier League, then Hetherston believes the shot-stopper would make the grade.
"We think he's one of the best young keeper going around," added Hetherston.
"He got the potential and all the attributes, however turning that into becoming first class is another matter."
