The French defender says he would opt for his countryman ahead of his Old Trafford team-mate if he had the choice.
Dutchman van Nistelrooy has scored a goal more than Henry so far this season, but Silvestre would rather have The Gunners striker in his side.
"I would take Henry because he is a lot faster," said Silvestre.
"That is very important in English football, and Henry also gives a team more attacking options."
Silvestre is in his best form for Sir Alex Ferguson's side and has just signed a new deal, but says that squad lacks strength in depth.
"At the moment there is not enough strength in depth and I feel we need some more players," he added in the Daily Star.
"In the past few months we have had as many as six players injured and therefore on the bench we have had 18 and 19-year-olds.
"We are too short in some areas of the team. For example, we have only three strikers - Ruud van Nistelrooy, Diego Forlan and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
"On the left side of the defence I am the only left-footed player, and it is the same with Gary Neville on the right."
