The reining kings of Europe have already told the player that it is time he headed for pastures new.
Coach Vincente Del Bosque has made Zinedine Zidane his preferred choice and Santiago's continued presence is hindering the prospects of young Spanish international Raul Bravo.
The Argentine schemer has until January 31 to decide on the move to Italy and the word from the Bernabeau is that Real are refusing to pay-up the remainder of the é¼10 million still owed on the deal that saw Ronaldo make the reverse switch.
According to Valdano, Inter have reneged on their initial offer for the player and it is they who are responsible for the collapse of the deal: ǣThe offer made to the player will be the reason for the failure of agreement we reached with Inter in August.
