The Spaniard was speaking in the wake of Leeds' 2-1 reverse against United on Wednesday night, and admitted that the thrill of playing at Old Trafford for the first time had been soured by The Whites' late reverse.
"The worst thing was the result, but I loved the atmosphere, the fans and the stadium," commented the Spanish international.
"Playing in games like this is the reason that I am here.
"Obviously I saw him (Beckham) a lot during the game, but he didn't say anything to me.
"He is a great player, that was clear. The star of their team.
"He didn't play like I had expected him to, but technically he was their best player."
Despite accepting that the hosts had merited their victory over the whole encounter, the Real Madrid man was adamant that his side should have been awarded a spot-kick in the second-half.
"The game was very fast, and they took advantage of the opportunities that they had.
"The second-half was theirs, but also the whistle was not blown for a very clear penalty of ours."
