Sir Alex Ferguson was looking to bring Irishman Keane off shortly after the interval in Wednesday's win over Leeds due to his sore hamstring but the skipper typically carried on but will pay the price for his bravery.
Keane is due to be out of action for around three weeks due to the problem, news that will be a blow to Ferguson.
Argentinian international Veron is also a worry for Ferguson after he limped out of the Leeds game ten minutes into the second half with an ankle injury.
The former Lazio man will have a scan on Thursday to discover the full extent of the problem, as will Wednesday's match-winner Silvestre.
The French defender grabbed the winner for The Red Devils at Old Trafford against Leeds but is also struggling with injury.
With the injury problems mounting, Ferguson is glad that his side have already qualified for the Champions League quarter finals, meaning he can rest his bruised stars before their next crucial Premiership game.
"We have hobbled through really," said Ferguson.
"I was actually going to take Mikael off just before he scored because he had already missed with three headers. Fortunately he got a fourth.
"We had to batten down the hatches at the end but you have to give Leeds credit for that. We have a ten-day break coming up and the players deserve a rest now."
