Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta has claimed that he will bring the England captain to Camp Nou should he gain control of the club and that he had already held talks about signing Beckham.
Kenyon is reported to have met Laporta's representative Sandro Rossel about a possible £30 million for Beckham in London and the United chief admitted talks were underway.
"I cannot confirm anything at this stage. But put it this way - you won't look silly if you write the story," Kenyon told the Mirror.
United had previously always declared they were unwilling to sell Beckham, but Kenyon's comments are sure to fuel speculation on the player's future over the summer.
Beckham's long-term future has been the subject of intense speculation since the end of last season with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Milan all reportedly keen on prising him away from Old Trafford.
A move to Barca looks unlikely as the Catalan giants are unlikely to qualify for Europe next season and Beckham would want to be playing in Europe should he consider leaving United.
Laporta will find out on June 15 if he has been successful in his bid to become Barcelona's new president and the speculation surrounding Beckham's future is expected to continue over the summer months.
Meanwhile, United are reported to be interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Lucio.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is on the look-out for a defensive partner for Rio Ferdinand and is believed to have switched his attentions to Lucio.
Lucio could leave Leverkusen this summer after a disappointing campaign last year which saw them narrowly avoid relegation with the club hinting some top stars could be sold.
