The 18-year-old defender has twice watched elder brother Rio become the world's most expensive defender with £18 million moves to Leeds United followed by last summer's colossal £30 million move to Manchester United - where he helped The Red Devils win The Premiership.
Ferdinand junior, though, now looks set to continue the proud family tradition at Upton Park, (cousin Les also starred for The Hammers briefly last term) after impressing on the East London outfit's tour of Sweden which has earned him high praise from boss Glenn Roeder.
"I will not compare him to Rio and refuse to talk about that," said Roeder.
"I had a great chat with Anton whilst we were out in Sweden.
"He wanted to talk about his performances and knew he had done well.
"We talked for about half an hour over many footballing subjects and he is a wonderful young lad.
"One of those subjects was the constant comparison with Rio.
"Anton knows there will be times when he will have to talk about his big brother. But, hopefully, in a couple of years it will be Rio talking about Anton because he is doing really well."
