The Portuguese press has speculated that the Addicks boss is lining up a reunion with Jorge Costa, the veteran defender who spent a successful spell on loan with Charlton in 2001/2002.
A journalist for A Bola saw the two men embrace in the car park at Tapirs and Curbishley is quoted in the newspaper as saying the South London club "feel the absence" of the 32-year-old, who has 50 caps for Portugal.
Costa is out of contract at the end of the season, and will be available on a free transfer if Charlton do look to resurrect their interest in his services.
However, it may well transpire that Curbishley had his eye on other potential targets as he is more than aware of the Porto skipper's capabilities.
Milan are known to be on the trail of Marseille hot-shot Didier Drogba, which would explain their presence in the stands, and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the Ivory Coast attacker, even though they are also admirers of Belgian defender Daniel van Buyten.
Benni McCarthy and Johnny Ecker are two other players on view who have been attracting attention from English clubs, although the exact identity of Spurs and Charlton's targets are not yet known.
