Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he is disappointed with the season.
Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he is disappointed with Manchester United's season despite having an FA Cup final date with Arsenal on the horizon.
The Scot is looking increasingly likely to be facing a second successive attempt to qualify for the UEFA Champions League before the domestic campaign gets underway as United sit in third place in the table.
After being knocked out of Europe's premier competition by Milan at the first knockout stage, Ferguson is hoping his young side will improve next term.
"It's a young team," he told Sky Sports News. "I think it's developing.
"I think we'll be better next year.
"I think we're disappointed not winning the league as it's very important to Manchester United and we're very disappointed not to have done better in the European Cup."
Although there are four games left in the league, including Sunday's trip to Charlton Athletic, the players are already relishing their Cardiff clash with Arsenal.
"Hopefully it'll be us lifting the FA Cup," said Rio Ferdinand. "Fingers crossed.
"We'll have to wait and see.
"We've got a few more games to play in the Premier League yet and then we'll look forward to that at the end of the season."
Mikael Silvestre is also enthusiastic about meeting The Gunners in the showpiece event.
"It's going to be a great and massive game at Cardiff," he told Sky Sports News. "I'm really looking forward to this game.
"It would be nice for everybody because we are working hard in training, I'm telling you.
"It would be nice for everybody to get success at the end of the season."
