Ivan De La Pena has admitted that he fancies a move to the Premiership.Ivan De La Pena has admitted that he fancies a move to The Premiership after being linked with Manchester United, Everton and Aston Villa in recent weeks.
The 29-year-old Espanyol star has been outstanding in the Parakeets' drive towards a European berth and has attracted the attention of several visiting scouts.
His form has seen him earn a call-up to the Spain team after years of underachieving that looked to have ended his chances of international recognition.
But he has flourished since joining Espanyol and has announced that he fancies trying his hand in England before the chance passes him by.
"I have always said that I would like to play in England and it would be an attractive move for me but at the moment I am concentrating on Espanyol and working hard for the team," he said.
"We are trying to get into the Champions League and we will see where we are at the end of the season."
After coming through the ranks at Barcelona, the player nicknamed 'Little Buddha' failed to hold down a regular first team place under Johan Cruyff, Sir Bobby Robson or Louis Van Gaal.
The latter then allowed him to go to Lazio, but he was inconsistent in Serie A and was then loaned to Marseille and back to Barcelona for a season.
But his final move to Espanyol has seen him win many plaudits as he finally lived up to his potential.
De La Pena has a contract at the Montjuic-based club until 2007, but with no buy-out clause in the deal, the financially restricted outfit would listen to any serious offers for his services.
