Man Utd want an investigation into the John Obi Mikel transfer wrangle.
Manchester United have asked the Premier League to investigate the ongoing transfer wrangle with John Obi Mikel.
The 18-year-old Nigerian signed for The Red Devils last month after a deal was a struck with his current club Lyn.
However, Chelsea were furious as they already thought they had agreed the transfer of the young midfielder.
After signing for United, Mikel received death threats and went into hiding before travelling to London on Thursday, and he now claims he was pressurised into signing the deal with the Old Trafford giants - but insists he has not held talks with Chelsea.
Chelsea have yet to confirm or deny whether the agents, John Shittu and Jerome Anderson, who brought Mikel to England - are working on their behalf.
United insist their deal with Lyn and Mikel is watertight and, having already attempted to make contact with Chelsea, they have now contacted the Premier League to launch an investigation.
"Manchester United has written to the FA Premier League to register the concerns it has over this matter," said an official United statement.
"We have asked the Premier League to investigate formally as soon as possible."
Sir Alex Ferguson had planned to fly to Oslo on Thursday for talks with Mikel, but after he fled to London the meeting was called off and now United have taken the issue up with the Premier League.
