Gary Neville is the latest player to withdraw from England's US Tour.Gary Neville is the latest player to withdraw from England's controversial summer tour of the United States, with Charlton's Luke Young called up in his stead.
Neville was an unused substitute for Manchester United's FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal, and the groin injury is being blamed for his withdrawal.
Charlton's player of the year Luke Young has been drafted in to replace him, with the 25-year-old hoping to win his first cap.
"Curbs (Charlton manager Alan Curbishley) actually told me on the Tuesday that I was on standby for the squad and obviously I was delighted just to be considered," said Young.
"So to be called up for the squad is fantastic. I was definitely surprised.
"I've done a lot of interviews recently after winning the player of the year and a lot of people have mentioned the possibility of playing for England - it's always on your mind to play for your country but to be honest, at 25, I thought I had missed the boat."
The tour is already mired in controversy with managers critical of a tournament that extends an already lengthy season.
