West Brom boss Bryan Robson is hopeful of retaining Kieran Richardson.West Brom boss Bryan Robson is hoping that the strength of Manchester United's squad persuades Kieran Richardson to move to The Hawthorns.
The young winger performed admirably for The Baggies after his loan switch from Old Trafford in January, although has indicated that he wants to establish himself under Sir Alex Ferguson rather than moving to the unlikely Premiership survivors.
England recognition has also been forthcoming for the 20-year-old as he has been called up for Sven Goran Eriksson's tour of America, and Robson hammered home to the player that The Baggies provided the stage for him to make a name for himself.
With Ryan Giggs and young wonder Cristiano Ronaldo, United already have fantastic quality available down the wings, and Robson is hopeful that Richardson will opt for the regular first team football on offer at West Brom next season.
"If he had still been playing in Manchester United's reserves he would not have been in the England squad," said Robson.
"We did a lot of work with him when he arrived from United.
"West Brom have given him that platform to get into the England team.
"Kieran is ambitious and I understand that, he will have a hell of a task getting into the United first team.
"That is why I am hopeful we will get him back."
