John O'Shea says he has no intention of turning his back on Man Utd.Irish defender John O'Shea says he has no intention of turning his back on Manchester United.
O'Shea has failed to nail down a regular starting berth at Old Trafford, with Rio Ferdinand, Mikael Silvestre, Gary Neville and Gabriel Heinze ahead of him in the pecking order, and reports have suggested he could follow the lead of Philip Neville and head for pastures new.
Neville moved to Everton last week, but O'Shea says he has no desire to head for a new challenge.
"I'm aware of the speculation but I'm very happy here," O'Shea told the News of the World. "I'm getting plenty of football and know I can get a lot more. That's my aim.
"Old Trafford is the best place to learn your football but that isn't the reason I am staying.
"I want to get into the first XI - that's the most important thing - and I believe I have a future here."
O'Shea has been fielded in a variety of positions, including as a holding midfielder, but he feels he can flourish as a centre half.
"The way I am developing defensively, I think my best position will be centre half.
"You could say it is tough for me to learn a trade given that I can play in different positions, but that is down to the individual."
