Manchester United have an interest in Udinese keeper Morgan De Sanctis.
Reports in Italy are crediting Manchester United with an interest in Udinese keeper Morgan De Sanctis.
Sir Alex Ferguson seemed to solve his goalkeeping problems by swooping for Fulham's Edwin van der Sar in the summer but, at 35, the Dutchman may not be the long-term answer.
United do have Ben Foster, who has impressed on loan at Watford this season, to call upon but the Carling Cup winners have long held an interest in De Sanctis.
An English scout was spotted at a recent Stadio Friuli match and press reports claim he was hugely impressed by the Azzurri squad member's performance.
Although Udinese have not been at their best, the 28-year-old has maintained his own personal form this term and is pushing to be Marcello Lippi's third-choice keeper in Germany.
Obviously, a new shot-stopper is not Ferguson's main priority as the United boss desperately needs to strengthen his midfield department over the summer.
The last Italian keeper brought to Old Trafford endured a nightmare time in Manchester as Massimo Taibi went down with the supporters as one of the worst number ones ever to represent The Red Devils.
