Juan Sebastian Veron has backed Manchester United to pip Chelsea to the title.
Juan Sebastian Veron has backed Manchester United to pip Chelsea to The Premiership title.
The midfielder, who played for both clubs during a three-year stint in England before moving to Internazionale, believes that United's experience will prove to be the difference between the sides.
Sir Alex Ferguson's men are still seven points adrift of The Blues with just five games remaining, but their hopes have been renewed by some unexpected lapses from Chelsea, coupled with their own fine form.
"United are a strong team," the Argentine said. "While many people may be ready to accept that the title has gone this year, they will not be accepting that.
"Chelsea are a great club but they do not have the experience of being tested in the title race like United do.
"There are good players there that I played with, such as Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, who will provide a great deal of inspiration for the rest of the team."
Veron also backed Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy to make telling contributions towards the outcome of the season.
"Rooney and van Nistelrooy are world class strikers. Any team would love to have them because they are so prolific and complement each other so well," he explained.
"Mr Ferguson has proven that he is a manager who can get the best out of them and he has done that so far."
