Mahamadou Diarra's agent has denied reports the player paid a visit to Man United.
Mahamadou Diarra's agent has denied reports suggesting the player had travelled to Manchester United recently to discuss a possible transfer.
Sir Alex Ferguson is a known admirer of the £24 million-rated Lyon midfielder but Frederic Guerra claims a move to Old Trafford is unlikely.
Guerra insists that Diarra's preference is to remain at Lyon for another season at least, having committed his long-term future to the club only last year.
Ferguson watched the 24-year-old Mali international in UEFA Champions League action against Milan last month but United's pursuit could yet end in disappointment.
"The information about Mahamadou going on a trip to Manchester is not true," said Guerra.
"I have not had any contact with Manchester United about him and, in any case, he wants to stay in France with Lyon.
"He only signed a new four-year contract with the club last year and he wants to stay for another season at least."
Guerra's assertions may lead Ferguson to pursue alternatives in his bid to bolster an ailing midfield and The Red Devils have recently been linked with moves for the likes of Aldo Duscher, Nigel Reo-Coker and Kevin Nolan, but a number of clubs are willing to test Lyon's resolve to hang onto Diarra.
