Chesterfield have started planning for next season by agreeing two new deals.
Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland has started planning for next season by agreeing new deals with two players.
Former loan man Phil Picken has agreed to make a permanent switch to Saltergate after spending this past season on loan with The Spireites from Manchester United.
The 20-year-old (pictured) will remain with the North Derbyshire outfit until the summer of 2008 after making 33 appearances for the League One club.
He is joined by club captain Shane Nicholson, who has agreed to extend his Chesterfield contract for another 12 months until June 2007.
"I am delighted that Phil Picken, who did so well for us last season, has agreed to commit his future with Chesterfield, especially as there has been some competition for his signature," McFarland told the club's official website.
"Shane Nicholson is an experienced defender who provides excellent support for our younger players both on and off the pitch."
