Klose Premiership talk denied

Werder Bremen have warned Premiership clubs not to make a move for Miroslav Klose.

Werder Bremen have warned Premiership clubs off making a move for Miroslav Klose, the World Cup's leading scorer.

The Germany striker bagged four goals from the host nation's three group games and his agent Alexander Schutt claims he has fielded several enquiries for the 28-year-old.

Some German newspapers have wasted little time speculating that Manchester United and Arsenal are among the sides to approach Schutt, but Werder have slammed the door on any possible exit talk.

"Miro's performances at the World Cup have put him in the spotlight," conceded Bremen sport director Klaus Allofs in Kicker.

"But, as far as we are concerned, he is absolutely not for sale."

Schutt had fanned the flames by confirming interest in his client.

"We have had several enquiries from top European clubs," he revealed. "Miro would like to play abroad at some time in his career.

"That could be after the World Cup but it could also be in two years' time.

"There are, however, only a few clubs that he would really consider joining."

United and Arsenal could both be in the market for a new forward and look certain to be linked with plenty of names as the summer develops.
