United 'made Trezeguet contact'

Man Utd were interested in signing David Trezeguet from Juventus last year.

Manchester United were interested in signing David Trezeguet from Juventus last summer, according to the Frenchman's father and agent Jorge.

Trezeguet was linked with a move away from Juve following the club's relegation to Serie B, and both Man United and Chelsea were among those reported to be interested.

United kept quiet on the speculation but Jorge Trezeguet has told France Football they made contact with the player about a possible move.

Jorge claims he travelled to Manchester to meet Sir Alex Ferguson before his son decided to stay in Italy.

Trezeguet has once again been linked with a move away from Juve at the end of this season, with clubs from Spain and England rumoured to be in the running.

Sevilla are believed to be favourites, with Juve boss Didier Deschamps reportedly keen on a swap deal involving Fredi Kanoute.

However, Trezeguet declared earlier this week that he had every intention of honouring the last year on his Juve contract.
