Tomasz Kuszczak admits he was buoyed by the support of his team-mates following his mistake in Manchester United's win over Sporting Lisbon.
The Poland goalkeeper, making his fourth appearance in the UEFA Champions League this season, was at fault for Sporting's goal after being beaten at his near post by Abel's opportunistic effort.
Kuszczak acknowledged his error, and was thankful for Cristiano Ronaldo's injury-time free-kick, which secured United a 2-1 win and top spot in Group F.
"It was a bad mistake for their goal," admitted Kuszczak. "You don't expect that kind of thing to happen.
"Everyone could see I ran to Ronaldo at the end to thank him, not just for his goal but the fact that we won.
"The lads helped me feel better afterwards. Everyone makes mistakes, the key is to learn from them."
Kuszczak also acknowledged that, compared to his previous games in the competition this season, he had slipped below the expected standard.
"Last time I played well and saved quite a few shots," said Kuszczak, referring to his second-half appearance against Dynamo Kiev last month.
"This time the lads saved me. It was a small minus, whereas last time there was a big plus.
"But overall, I was very happy to be involved and, because we won, I don't really care."
