Park Ji-sung admits he was happy to be given the chance to start Manchester United's UEFA Champions League game with Roma.
The South Korean midfielder was making his first appearance in the competition this season in the 2-0 win at Stadio Olimpico in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
Having missed the first half of the campaign with a knee injury, Park is determined to make the most of his opportunities.
He could start the second leg against Roma at Old Trafford on Wednesday, after having a hand in Wayne Rooney's goal, but warned a place in the semi-finals is not yet guaranteed.
"I enjoyed the victory," said Park. "It was good to get a game as it was a big match.
"There is a lot of competition for places in midfield, so you have to perform well in training and when you play.
"The result gives us confidence in the next game, although we have to concentrate fully in the second leg."
Park also praised team-mate Paul Scholes and acknowledged it is a privilege to be able to play alongside the former England international.
He added: "Paul trains hard and the way he passes the ball is unbelievable.
"He always seems to find a team-mate. I am just happy to watch him and learn from him."
