Gerard Pique had hoped Manchester United would not meet Barcelona until the UEFA Champions League final.
Pique featured at the heart of the United defence in the second leg of the quarter-final win over Roma and turned in an admirable display alongside Rio Ferdinand to secure a last-four meeting with Barca.
Pique, who quit the Camp Nou youth ranks to move to Old Trafford in 2004, now has a very good chance of starting in a fortnight when United travel to Catalunya for the first leg of their semi-final showdown.
"I think a lot of people would like to see a final between those two clubs," he said.
"It means a lot to go back. It will be a great feeling as I grew up there.
"Barcelona are one of the best teams in Europe but we have a good chance.
"Everyone at United is playing really well and we hope to progress.
"It is very easy to play in this team because everyone knows their role. It is enjoyable as well."
