Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has reiterated the club's desire to retain the services of Robinho. The Brazil international has the been subject of much transfer debate this summer, with Real's incessant pursuit of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo throwing his future at the Santiago Bernabeu into doubt. There had been suggestions that the 24-year-old playmaker would be used as a makeweight in Real's attempts to lure Ronaldo away from Old Trafford. With United's Premier League rivals, Chelsea, also in the frame it appeared that Robinho's days in the Spanish capital were numbered.

However, Calderon is insistent that Real have no plans to part company with any of their first-team regulars during the close-season and expects Robinho to be part of Bernd Schuster's plans for the 2008/09 campaign. "We have the intention to make very few changes, neither on arrivals nor departures," he told AS. "The squad is young and it is strong. "There are no direct negotiations at the moment for the exit of Robinho."
