Preston North End boss Darren Ferguson is weighing up whether to extend the loan deal of Manchester United striker Josh King.
The 18-year-old joined Preston on a three-month loan in August and has scored once in nine appearances for the Championship club.
King is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and he is not expected to be fit again until after the conclusion of his initial deal.
Ferguson is short on attacking options at present and is assessing whether to gamble on keeping King or bringing in a more experienced forward.
"At the moment we're thinking another two or three weeks out for Josh," Ferguson told the Lancashire Evening Post.
"That takes him past the end of his loan, so I have to decide what to do when that time comes. We'll have to see how the injury is, what progress the boy makes, and take it from there.
"He's had a scan on the ankle and we should know more next week. What I've got to take into consideration is that this is the second time Josh has injured his ankle and also whether I go for someone a bit more experienced. Bringing in another loan is something I might have to give consideration to."
