Frank Lampard scored for New York City FC - his second goal in Major League Soccer - as they claimed a 2-1 win over Vancouver.
The former Chelsea midfielder took a low cross from defender Angelino in the 29th minute and fired a shot past Whitecaps 'keeper David Ousted.
David Villa secured the victory with a stoppage-time penalty - won by Lampard - as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way for his 17th goal of the season.
Vancouver captain Pedro Morales had also scored with a spot-kick in the 88th minute to briefly level the match.
Meanwhile, Canadian rivals Montreal beat D.C. United 2-0 as Didier Drogba continued his impressive start with his new club.
