Doctors have confirmed that the 22-year-old has ruptured the lateral ligament in his left ankle, after he underwent a scan on the injury, and it is now feared that he is facing a lengthy spell out of action.
Morris had to be replaced by Mario Stanic in the match with First Division Gillingham, which the Premiership side won 4-2, and he is now set to miss what could be a crucial time for the club, as they look to continue their upturn in form in the Premiership this season.
This could, however, be good news for Stanic, who is looking to re-establish himself in the Chelsea first team after returning from the knee injury that kept him out of action for three months.
